Frisco Art Festival Will be Good Business!

The Frisco Association for the Arts (Frisco Arts) has been discussing a large scale outdoor arts festival for some time and it will become reality on October 16 - 18, 2009. The event will take place at Newman Village, a new and exciting residential development within our city. Newman village is all about the arts, and it is the perfect place to launch our Frisco Arts Festival.

Frisco Arts is partially funded with a portion of the hotel and motel taxes that are generated from these facilities within Frisco. We have a fiduciary responsibility to utilize the revenue associated with hotel & motel taxes in a prudent manner that will bring tourism to our city. The Frisco Arts Festival will be an annual event that will generate significant revenues for Frisco Arts from artist entry fees, ticket sales, food & beverage sales, and corporate sponsorships. The festival will also bring revenues to local businesses because the event will attract artists and guests from all over the region and beyond.

Many cities around the area have large art festivals, but or goal is to become the festival by which all others are measured. We will combine the visual arts with the performing arts. The festival will take place over a long weekend (Friday - Sunday) and will attract artists and visitors from far away. Visual artists are invited to participate in a juried evaluation, and those accepted are allowed to display and sell their work at the festival. Grand stages throughout the festival provide diverse venues for various performing artist to demonstrate their craft.

A large children's area will allow for hands on art experiences. Face painting, costume creation, and impromptu theater all make for an exciting time for youngsters. The festival will be a family friendly event.

Frisco is a dynamic business community! We are one of the fastest growing cities in the entire country. As companies look to the Dallas/ Fort Worth area as a possible relocation site, we are a shining star. Quality of life does matter to individuals and companies alike. We need a dynamic arts community to work in support and in concert with all the other attractions that Frisco has to offer. The Frisco Arts Festival will be the showcase event for our arts community. It will also become the destination event that ultimately brings huge financial impact to Frisco and attracts visitors from across the U.S.

Frisco Arts is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, community based organization formed by citizens and business leaders and serves as a vital agent and community partner in supporting and promoting the arts in Frisco. Frisco is a young and growing community, and Frisco Arts recognizes that the arts are an important tool for educational, economic and community development.
